In a recent speech to a joint session of Congress, President Barack Obama shared some good news and some bad news regarding the country's economic recovery. The good news is there's been a marked increase in the number of employment opportunities in the U.S. The bad news is less than half of the country's citizens hold the degrees or training necessary to land the jobs. And the situation is expected to only get worse. In a July 2009 report on the state of the economy, the President's Council of Economic Advisors noted, jobs requiring higher educational accomplishment are expected to expand much faster than those with demands of lower education. The report concluded, skilled, well-trained workers will be in the best candidates to secure high paying jobs, which will help the America succeed as a whole. In other words, if you want to be one of the survivors of the economic crisis, it's probably a good idea to consider joining the millions who are already pursuing online degrees.
